We made it to Friday, October 7th! Not only is it Friday, but it is also World Smile Day.
Snap! FortiGate firewalls, Pixel 7, Neeva, Cat's Eye Nebula, Uranus, & more Spiceworks Originals. :)Or, you know, if you don't have a pet dinosaur, you can post other, lesser dinosaurs, since I suppose it is their month too. October is International Dinosaur Month, so let's see those SpiceRex pics, taken in the wild. Discovered that there was a database update that needed to be applied overni. Our IT Manager is out for vacation, which is not a big deal, but there are often days when staff are needy. Yesterday was a day.In-Office was insane.
Overnight Database updates, found myself looking at the business end of a taser! Water Cooler. Or should I push for a fresh install on this PC? SEP 12.1 Client installs on other machines without issue. Also, I ran CCleaner to see if there was any leftover stuff from Symantec that might be blocking the install, but nothing. I have also run the UnHook.INF that Symantec recommends. I have no issues installing any other program on this machine. We tried installing from both the local admin and the domain admin accounts. One of my fellow SysAds gave me Nonav 9, which is supposed to uninstall every facet of every Symantec program on a PC. I am getting no error messages, and it's like nothing was even attempted. The computer then does nothing with the install. If I look at Task Manager -> Processes, I can see Setup.exe appear really quickly, then disappear. Now, when I go to install SEP 12.1, I double-click the Setep.exe file, my mouse icon flashes, then nothing. I uninstalled our old Symantec program (along with a host of other programs) after installing all the latest Windows XP Pro updates. So far, so good, but I have encountered a problem when trying to install Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 for Client. My boss doesn't want to format and reinstall everything, so I have been charged with getting all the updates and new software on this PC. I am in the process of cleaning up a PC that is moving from one function location to another on our shop floor.
